The textiles that we market are created using ancestral weaving techniques, which means each piece that is produced is steeped in Mapuche tradition - woven by hand on a homemade, wooden loom using only pure sheep wool that has also been spun by hand and dyed using only vegetation that naturally occurs in the ninth region of Chile. The weavers that make these textiles agree to abide by the previously described ancestral techniques in order to produce textiles.
While maintaining these traditional ways, the Cooperative also seeks to create new, innovative textile product lines that respond to modern day tastes and esthetics. In 2007, with support from the Madrid based agency "Fundación para la Innovación de la Artesanía", Cooperative members participated in special workshops with a Spanish consultant to identify 28 new, innovative products that artisans are beginning to make with more frequency with the hope of appealing more to international tastes.
