You are here: > Home > About Us > Location LocationFundación Chol-Chol is located in the Araucanía region of Chile, better known as the gate to the Lake District. This region is approximately 435 miles (700 km) south of the capital city of Santiago. The principal industries in this region are agriculture and forestry. The topography of this area is relatively flat with a central valley, the Andes Mountains to the East and the Coastal Range to the West. The climate is relatively mild, with wet winters and warm summers. The Fundación is located on the Road to the Coast, the main road that runs between the small town of Nueva Imperial and the regional capital city of Temuco. Temuco is a city of approximately 300,000 inhabitants and possesses the government offices and local headquarters for many national institutions. Travel from Temuco to any part of Chile is easily achieved by bus or plane. The Araucanía region has four national parks, five volcanoes and beautiful rivers and lakes. This region is one of the main tourist areas of Chile and attracts visitors from all over the world.
