Ex-volunteers
Our ex-volunteers provide an important source of support for the Foundation. In their home countries and cities, our ex-volunteers bring great enthusiasm in carrying out projects such as:
- disseminating the work of the Foundation among family and friends
- writing small articles for the press
- giving talks and selling woven goods at local events
Don't hesitate to contact us if you wish to continue supporting the Foundation as you return to your daily life!
Grange School Student Summer Projects
We have received current and past students from the Grange School of Santiago. These students give part of their summer vacation to help provide basic housing to families that are poor and lack opportunities.
Since the year 1997, the Grange School and the Chol-Chol Foundation have collaborated in order to benefit the rural families of the Aracuania Region and to give the school's young students an understanding of the reality of poverty.
The groups that have benefited from this cooperation are peasants and the Mapuche, whose quantity of land is minimal and often of bad quality, making it difficult to farm and therefore difficult to save money to apply for Farm Housing Subsidies or to build their own houses.
Impact on the quality of life of the beneficiaries
- For most families, the acquisition of housing betters their living condition in terms of comfort, privacy and hygiene.
- For the young families that have been living with others, receiving a new home allows a living situation in which one can have things "of their own, with out being bothered."
- The joint construction work between the students and the families generates strong ties, enhanced by the gratitude and commitment of the beneficiaries, who value the cooperation and good will of the young students.
Past volunteers
Since the establishment of the Foundation, we have received volunteer support from Europe, North and South America, Asia and Africa.
For our work, the knowledge and disposition of these volunteers has been crucial in supporting our programs and in generating new contacts and ideas. We greatly appreciate their monetary disinterest and their wish to share their knowledge as volunteers.
